Steven Wright began researching his paternal grandmother's family in 2002. At the time he was only seventeen years old, and found a hobby many his age were not interested in. Eighteen years later he is still researching his own family, while helping others research their's.

In 2008 he realized there could be a need for research services in Will County. He had used the services of other researchers outside of Will County to retrieve obituaries, vital records, and cemetery records. He pondered the idea of doing the same for Will County records. After doing so he decided to build a simple website and offer his services. His first services were locating obituaries, and city directories, housed at the Joliet Public Library. He also located interment records from cemeteries that are part of the Joliet Archdiocese. Since that time he has started locating naturalization, probate, and vital records.   

 

Several years ago he saw the need for researchers in neighboring Cook County.  Your Chicago Ancestors was founded to fulfill the needs of those seeking records from Chicago and Cook Cook County.
